Hiking matters #17: Wanted

I’m back in Manila but right now I don’t have much time to work on the website, let alone climb a mountain! Even though I look forward to doing Bakun Trio soon though, plus some short excursions, there is no certainty as to when I can find time for these. Anyhow, this month is the 12th month of PinoyMountaineer’s existence and I’m glad that before things have begun to be very busy for me as a medical student (clinical clerk) in PGH, the website has taken a definite shape and although it is still far from what I envision, it has become fairly vibrant with many updates coming from our friends and colleagues from the mountaineering community. Thus our mountain itineraries remain relevant. And we are kept up-to-date on the status of closed mountains; and recently we’ve also put up a list of open climbs to promote greater interaction among mountaineers.

However, the Flora and Fauna hasn’t been updated in two weeks, and there are so many ideas that I want to put up online. These include coming up with a list of outdoor stores in Metro Manila and the Philippines, and other pages like ClimbSpeak that cater to the lighter side of mountain climbing. Also, there is still no page that addresses FAQs that beginners would want to ask.

Thus, I think I may need a extra hand in PinoyMountaineer who will help me in managing the site and gathering and updating content, as the associate blogger. Preferably someone younger than me (16-21 years old) who is a passionate hiker (not necessarily super-experienced) and has some background in writing/blogging/web layout and of course, has regular internet access. Said person may belong to any mountaineering club, for PinoyMountaineer.com is not affiliated with any group.

Of course like myself, if you join me here there are no financial compensations; this is purely volunteer work – but there will be perks. If you are interested please email me at glasco@gmail.com.
