Last weekend I found myself in familiar territory as I guided a small group of 10 to visit the Seven Lakes of San Pablo. After first seeing the famous and largest Sampaloc Lake, we headed to Bunot Lake. Here I was pleasantly surprised to see a very nice view of the Malipunyo Range – in its entirety! In fact I could see the summit of Malipunyo, Mt. Susong Dalaga, and Manabu Peak, in a horizontal profile. Very nice sight indeed!

Then we proceeded to Lake Calibato. Here, the two grand mountains of the Southern Tagalog – Banahaw and Cristobal, are beautifully framed by lakeshore trees; even as the placid waters of the lake complement the view.

Then it was time for Lakes Pandin and Yambo – the twin lakes. Secluded, these two lakes don’t have views save for their own tranquil waters. However, the trail connecting the two – a ten-minute trek – offers nice views of not only Banahaw and Cristobal, but also Malipunyo, Kalisungan, and even a faint Maculot and a distant Makiling. Splendid!

Finally, Lake Mohicap offered a view of Kalisungan and Atimla – the mountains of Calauan and Nagcarlan. Lake Palakpakin completed our journey. This time around I was able to appreciate the lakes not only as themselves but also as backdrops for the mountains around them. We had lunch at Clydenjosh Restaurant fronting Sampaloc Lake and it was a perfect treat. Thanks to the participants who joined the first-ever Seven Lakes Adventure Tour!
