Partial list of mountains affected by Typhoons ‘Ondoy’ and ‘Pepeng’
UPDATE (10/19/09): Roads to Mt. Pulag and Tabayoc now open; most mountains back to normal.
Based on our personal correspondences and news reports, the following mountains are currently affected (damaged trails, devastated communities, OR impeded access) I am currently on community immersion in San Juan, Batangas and I only have sporadic internet access. Please help me with information by commenting on this post.
DISCLAIMER: These tidbits go only to the best of my knowledge. Most are second-hand information and should at best be advisory. I hope this helps:
Mt. Batulao – okay but muddy
Mt. Romelo – okay but muddy
Mt. Arayat – flooded slopes
Mountains in Tarlac
Bakun Trio – Halsema still unstable
Mt. Pinatubo – still under repair yung trail
Please be guided accordingly.
PS: Fortunately, we have not received news of any mountaineering-related accidents during the onslaught and aftermath of Typhoons ‘Ondoy’ and ‘Pepeng’.

kagagaling lang namin ng Mt. Pulag via ambangeng trail last Oct. 30, open na po yung mga road from Baguio to DENR may mga trace pa ng landslide sa dadaanan. Thanks pala kina Sir Onith at sa group nya sa pag organize.
we've day hiked and traversed batulao last friday and saw 1 group of 5 or 6 people camped along the ridgeline of the traverse trail. they mentioned staying up to monday and does'nt mind of the direct storm coming.
any news?
