Hiking matters #119: Outdoor shops in General Santos City
Last month I was in General Santos City and although I was not able to climb Mt. Matutum, I decided, in the tradition of my Davao outdoor shops trip report in November, to look for the outdoor shops in the city. First, I came across Anito Outdoor Shop just in front of KCC Mall of GenSan in J. Catolico Ave. The shop offers an assortment of local hiking gear, as well some equipment like headlamps, stoves, etc.
Outdoors at the second floor of Gaisano Mall, which is just a block away from KCC, on the other hand, is more of a general outdoor shop, selling tents for camping, outdoor-themed clothes, and catering to other sports like biking, running, etc. There are some deuter bags. I also saw some Merrell shoes in the department store of Gaisano.
Are there other shops within the city proper? I was not able to find any and I also failed the Edge Outdoor Shop listed in PinoyMountaineer, supposedly in Osmena St, and also the Acropolis Outdoor Equipment which was supposed to be in J. Catolico.

Sir ang "Edge Outdoor Shop" ang naga occupy nah diyan ngayon is "Southern Peak Outdoor Depot". Ang "Acropolis Outdoor Equipment" parang close nah ata e2 xa kasi di koh din makita… Mayrun din dati Habagat Outdoor Shop, kaso nag close nah din…
sayang naman sir di kah naka climb sah Mt.Matutum… For us here in Gensan and other climber's, we find Mt.Matutum more difficult to climb than Mt.Apo…
