Hiking matters #165: Viajero Outdoor Centre and other outdoor shops in Cagayan de Oro

I went to Cagayan de Oro recently to visit my med school classmate Ton Llagas, and I met with members of the Medical Outdoor Society as well: Daniel Dellosa who used to serve as Climb Secretariat of the first two Annual Charity Climbs and Ulysses Gopez, who designed the PinoyMountaineer logo. We visited Viajero Outdoor Centre in 137 Arch Reyes Street, Cagayan de Oro City. The store has nice selections of trekking pants and clothes, as well as Deuter bags, Petzl headlamps, and many other hike-related gear. Store opens from 0930 to 1800H. There are also Columbia and The North Face outdoor shops in CDO. The Columbia Sportswear boutique is located at Limketkai Mall while The North Face is located in SM City Cagayan de Oro, along the way to the airport. It can be contacted at +63(88) 859-3081. After the outdoor shop touring, Ton drove us around the city, including some of the scenic highways leading to Bukidnon. Overall, it was a nice daytrip. Airport Tip: Instead of taking a taxi or a van, you can actually walk down the highway from the airport and just take a jeep to the downtown area for less than 20 pesos!
